Valances, designs, and tips

Tips when you make a decision to create valances for your windows:

  • Pick the right fabric for the style you select: for example, the heavy fabrics will not drape well.
  • Make sure the proportions are right: For example, when you have a short window make sure not to make the valance drop to low.
  • make sure your patterns are right: Large patterns will disappear when you are using the fabric for a tiny valance.
  • Make sure your colors are complementing the color scheme of the room.
  • Embellish: when you use embellishments, you know that it is an opportunity to be creative and different.
  • Be daring, create unique styles and create the WOW factor.

Good luck with your valance project

Cellular shades with a valance!

We have installed this treatment for our client in Naperville, Illinois.

This was for their daughter who is ten, she loves blue, loves casual and informal looks, she is very athletic, she needs privacy and on weekends and Holidays she loves to sleep in!

Take a look above, we met our client’s goal by:

  • Using a blue stripped cotton that has a canvas texture, that gives a casual feel.
  • The detail of crossed ribbon, at the center resembles athletic shoe lace, which fits perfect with her athletic spirit.
  • We provided cellular shades with room darkening features that will help her sleep in on weekends, and makes her dad happy when he finds out that he is saving money on his energy bills 🙂

A child room with a room to grow!!!

It is always a good idea to design children rooms with the idea that it will work for now and can last for many years to come. Keeping that in mind the design must appeal to the child, and still can look good and appropriate for the future.

This client from Naperville, Illinois wanted to have Butterfly Roman valances for there girl’s room, keeping in mind that the window treatment will grow with her and it will work for the next 5 years or more.

The fabric can work now and for the teenage years, the purple fabric has that French flair to it with messages and quotes, she loves it and she was so excited and thrilled to see the design and colors, the treatment  will be perfect for later as well. The bows gives the treatment a feel of whimsy and adds a girly touch, yet it can be removed in the future for more sophisticated mature look.
