Drapery panels, the new trend for window dressing!

We have noticed the past few years that the way to dress a window has become simple and practical!

Simple drapery panels have been the trend for many years now, most homeowners might start with blinds for privacy or sun control, then stationary panels are added for adding warmth, style, and to dress-up a room.

One can use a very simple panel treatment, one color panel, that will add color or texture, or sometimes the drapery panel can have more details that might bring more character to the room.

Here are few ideas that can be used to create style and character to the room:

  • Adding Buttons:  Buttons would definitely change the overall look of a panel, it can be added to the bottom of pleats, on the sides

  • Creating a layered look using two fabrics over each other for one stationary panel: You can have the first fabric as the first layer and the second layer in sheer that lays on top of the first layer.full room less bright.jpg

  • Selecting unique fabric to make a statement: The type of fabric in terms of pattern, color, texture, and type can create a huge impact. Ordinary draperies Vs. Extra ordinary custom draperies! A Lombard home gets a room make-over!

Had a conversation with this Lombard home owner about her newly installed draperies we provided for her, and what a difference between her room now and when it had an ordinary store bought curtains.

How would you describe your draperies: out of the bag and ordinary or one of a kind and extraordinary?

Ask yourself that question but please do not confuse simplicity with ordinary. Simplicity can be elegant and tasteful; ordinary is what you see everywhere:  overplayed, overdone, and just not exciting.

People are different. They have different needs, lifestyles, personalities, and tastes. Home décor should reflect this, as well as the house’s own appearance and character. Let’s take window treatments for example—your curtain work has to compliment the window itself, from its shape to of course, the room in general.

Often, I visit homes with store bought draperies that take away from the integrity of the room. To be quite honest, a room will look better with a naked window than a wrongly dressed one.

Custom window coverings can be simple, affordable, and expressive! Choosing the right combination of fabric and hardware really takes a room to the next level of sophistication. It can also bring comfort and satisfaction to the home owner. We want you to feel good about your personal space!

I cannot stress how important it is for you to be happy and joyful every time you come home. This is my goal as a designer: I strive to assist you in creating a uniquely beautiful home that is totally you!

Draperies for a Lombard Illinois home!

Here are some draperies designed for a resident of Lombard Illinois. The house is a Mission style with Missions style furniture. The home owner expressed her desire for formal but not over dressed, clean lines to go with the Mission style.

Below is the proposed design. Sheers with rubbed bronze drapery hardware from RM coco, that works well with the hardware of her furniture. The sheers are finished off with silk drapery panels on each side, box pleated with buttons on each pleat.
